For the second consecutive year, we are showcasing and sharing stories about our successful partnership projects at the event "It Takes Two to Tango." This time, we expanded the number of participants by including Romania and Poland, bringing together the three largest beneficiaries on one stage for the first time. We thank the Embassies of Norway in Bucharest and Warsaw for their initiative and organization.
"Successful bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland with Norway means trust, a common direction, synchronization, and faith in creating something good and beautiful," stated Ivan Ivanov, head of the National Coordination Unit for the EEA and Norway Financial Mechanisms in Bulgaria.
We continued with a musical performance, which was not tango this time but an emotional journey to ancient lands, Vikings, and self-discovery. Our guides were Kjell Braaten and Karina Dulea.
Three different perspectives on bilateral cooperation and two nations – distant yet close – were presented by people who bring stories to life: storytellers and travelers.
For Bulgaria, this was Tonya Dimitrova, a journalist from BNT, who chose three of the 244 projects implemented in Bulgaria in partnership with donor countries. First, we explored the newly built prison in the village of Samoranovo, learning how the absence of bars and a positive environment can create opportunities for change. Next, we delved into the importance of civic education and human rights education in combating stereotypes and prejudices. Finally, we concluded with a scientific exploration of the Black Sea.
For Poland, the story was told by radio journalist Jan Janczy. A total of 683 projects with donor country partners were implemented there, with almost all projects in the culture sector included in this figure. These partnerships, 90% of which are expected to continue beyond the project period, focus on introducing innovative practices and new activities.
Freelance journalist Ioana Avădani from Romania drew parallels between Romania and Norway, showing how the two nations, though seemingly different, share many common traits.
To finish, we enjoyed the magical journey of the Vikings to the shores of Constantinople, which they called Miklagard (The Great City).
The event was broadcast live and can be viewed on our YouTube channel.
See you again in 2025. There will always be tango.
