The premiere of "The Origins of Totalitarianism" by Hannah Arendt took place in Sofia's Toplocentrala with great reader interest.
The book is published in cooperation between the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute and Colibri Publishing House for the first time in Bulgarian in its entirety and includes its three main parts: "Antisemitism", "Imperialism" and "Totalitarianism".
The two translators Kamen Lozev and Irina Vaseva, as well as the Director of the Institute Tanya Mihaylova took part in the presentation of the book, and Nikolay Tsenkov took the role of moderator. The relevance and completeness of this large-scale research work of Hannah Arendt, the importance of knowledge about totalitarianism for modern society and younger generations, the philosophical and political aspects of the struggle against totalitarian thinking were discussed.
Diplomats, philosophers, philologists, experts from the public and academic sectors took part in the active discussion.
Le Monde placed "The Origins of Totalitarianism" among the 100 most significant books of the 20th century, and the National Review ranked it 15th on its list of the best non-fiction books of the century.
The publication was carried out within the framework of project DFPO-1.004-0001-C01 "Strategic Cooperation between Bulgaria and Norway in Support of Bulgaria's International Commitments to Combating Antisemitism and Preserving Jewish Heritage", financed by the Bilateral Relations Fund of the Financial Mechanism of the EEA and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism in Bulgaria.
The book can now be purchased in bookstores in the country, as well as online.
