Several visits were carried out on 7-9 September regarding projects under the REEEES Programme in Burgas and Pomorie. They were held in the framework of the mission to Bulgaria of representatives of the Financial Mechanism Office, the REEEES Programme partners from the Kingdom of Norway – NVE and Iceland – Orkustofnun, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway and the National Focal Point.
Progress has been observed in the implementation of the projects for the use of geothermal energy for heating and cooling in kindergarten “Veseloushko”, Pomorie and Crèche No. 3 in the city of Burgas, as well as the already completed project for rehabilitation and modernization of street lighting in Burgas.
The activities in the childcare facilities are carried out on time and are tailored to the schedule of their little residents, with the aim to enjoy the newly built clean source of heating in the next heating season at the latest. This will ensure greater comfort for buildings in both summer and winter months and will reduce energy bills. With regard to street lighting in Burgas, it has been found that the installed new LED luminaires provide a high level of illumination in all the main arteries of the city, which, in addition to reduced electricity bills, leads to greater security and peace for citizens walking during the dark hours of the day.
The eleventh meeting of the Cooperation Committee on the Programme was held, as well as a Joint Cooperation Committee with the Environment Protection and Climate Change Programme.
