Construction works have been completed in the three kindergartens in Plovdiv, namely “Desislava”, “Edelweiss” and “Svetlina” kindergartens under a project to introduce energy efficiency measures and build own photovoltaic power plants.

The project was financed under “Renewable Energy, Energy efficiency and Energy Security” Programme supported by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021. The Beneficiary is Plovdiv Municipality.

The total cost of the project was over BGN 2.8 million with VAT, of which the grant amounted to about BGN 2.3 million.

The project achieves energy savings and heat storage, indirectly reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality, and establishes renewable energy production and storage systems. One of the most important results is the achievement of energy efficiency class A + for the three buildings and they will now have nearly zero energy consumption. This will reduce their final energy costs.

The kindergartens were renovated for the period of 24 months. As a result, windows are refurbished, walls and ceilings have been insulated, internal heating systems have been replaced and the gas-heating boiler has been renovated in “Svetlina” kindergarten. Solar collectors provide the hot water in the childcare facilities.

Teachers thanked the sponsors and the workers that executed the renovations for the provided opportunity for children to play and rest in even brighter, warmer and cozier rooms. In turn, the children greeted the guests by singing songs and dancing.
