On 18th this month the Ministry of Environment and Water and UNICEF Bulgaria presented together this year's "General Comment No. 26 on Children's Rights and the Environment, with a focus on climate change" of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
The General Comment №26 for the first time presented full interpretation of the obligations of the member states under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in taking actions to address the environmental and climate change issues.
During the discussions on the document presentation, the Minister of Environment and Water - Mr. Julian Popov, sent the following message to all children: "Don't fall into the trap of the so-called climate anxiety, it is important to focus on solutions, and there are many - both for mitigating climate change by reducing and eliminating industrial energy greenhouse gases, and for adaptation to climate change".
During the event, a special exhibition was demonstrated as part of the activitied under the “Be part of the cycle! RE-solve! “project, financed under the "Environment protection and climate change" Programme of the FM EEA 2014-2021. With an interesting play, children from the Private Primary School "Educational Technologies", a beneficiary of the project, talked about the impact of climate change on the environment.
