Did you know that two-thirds from the municipal waste consists of organic components?

When we throw away, for example- flowers, rotten fruit, vegetables and their peels, we stimulate the natural process of degradation of our organic waste when it comes in contact with oxygen and million other microorganisms.

Composting is a way of natural soil nourishing, making use of our organic waste. Moreover, it is an energy-efficient and ecological process which not only transforms our waste into resource, but also reduces the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

As a project partner under the BGENVIRONMENT-4.003-0017-C01 “Implementation of measures for successful adaptation to climate changes” project under the “Environment Protection and Climate Change” Programme of the EEA FM 2014-2021, Municipality of Kocherinovo developed a guideline for composting in living areas as a means of reducing the harmful impact on the environment and climate change. The document contains both information about the composting process and useful practical advice on how to properly create suitable composting conditions at home.
