THE MUNICIPALITIES OF DOBRICH, PERNIK, HASKOVO AND CHELOPECH WILL IMPLEMENT PROJECTS TO REDUCE HARMFUL

Today the Vice Prime Minister for Climate Policies and Minister for the Environment and Water Borislav Sandov and the Mayors of four municipalities - Yordan Yordanov (Dobrich Municipality), Stanislav Vladimirov (Pernik Municipality), Stanislav Dechev (Haskovo Municipality) and Aleksi Kesiakov (Chelopech Municipality) - signed contracts for the implmentation of projects, aimed at reduction of harmful emissions and adaption to climate changes. They will be financed under the "Environment Protection and Climate Change" Programme, which is a part of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA FM) 2914-2021.

"Projects and activities of this type have real contribution on the reduction of the harmful effect on the climate and on the adaption to its changes, shows us how can we achieve energy independence and reduce the harmful emissions. the support and shared experience from countries like Norway contribute to a positive change in the community and the institutions, which is crucial and for our green future as well", commented Minister Borislav Sandov.

Pernik Municipality in partnership with Bobov Dol Municipality envisages the pilot installation of a system for production of a hydrogen-oxygen mixture planned to be used in the heating system of several municipality buildings. The expected outcome is the economically efficient fuel usage reduced by 50% and the reduction of the harmful emissions.This project amounts to BGN 954 000.

In Dobrich, the Municipality in partnership with Krushari Municipality, innovative measures will be implemented to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change through the delivery and installation of photovoltaic power plants on public buildings. Тhis project amounts to around BGN 702 000. 

The Municipality of Haskovo, in partnership with Madjarovo and Stambolovo, envisages pilot measures in the field of energy and ecology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A green hydrogen system will be integrated in the Home for elder people alongside with solar hot water  sytem placed in 8 kindergarten buildings, and a strategy for climate change mitigation and adaption policies will be developed as well. This project amounts to BGN 909 000.

Partners of Municipality of Chelopech are Mirkovo, Zlatitsa and Koprivshtitsa which are participating in project amounting to BGN 885 000. Among the planned measures are the followng ones:rooftop photovoltaic installation for electricity from renewable source on a school building, charging station for electric cars with photovoltaic power supply, hot water solar system in a kindergarten as well as pilot implementation of home composting for 250 households.
