On 6th and 7th July 2023 the municipalities of Rudozem, Madan and Devin held initial press-conferences for the introduction of the BGENVIRONMENT-4.004-0002 “The municipalities Rudozem, Madan and Devin are working together to improve their municipal capacity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the changing climate " project, financed under the “Environment Protection and Climate Change” Programme of the EEA FM 2014-2021.
Municipality of Rudozem, as a Project Promoter under the project, in partnership with the municipalities of Madan and Devin, the Club “Economika 2000”, Club for Green Policies and IOWA AS, Norway, will work towards improving the status of the environment and reducing the effect of climate change, which are just a part of the planned project measures.
Other planned activities are the enhancement of the skills and expertise of at least 30 municipal specialists in field of climate change mitigation and adaptation, the organization of a demonstration training for the presentation of good practices from Norway, as well as the development of municipal plans for adaptation to climate change.
The project also envisages increasing the capacity at the local level to plan and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures for the three municipalities and the preparation of a plan for public awareness and for multiplication of the project results for each municipality.
