Brief description:  

The project is implemented in a consortium of the municipalities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo, and IDNA, Norway, which work together to increase the capacity of Bulgarian municipalities to implement sustainable policies to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change (ACC).

A 3-day training will be conducted for municipal officials to increase their competence in planning mitigation measures and AIC with trainers from Norway with the necessary experience and expertise in this field. An information forum will be held with guest speakers from Norway, to which representatives of regional public institutions in the energy, water, transport, waste, environment and all those involved in the implementation of AIC policies will be invited. 

Municipal experts will visit the city of Oslo in order to transfer knowledge and experience and popularize good practices borrowed from the Norwegian partners. 5 pilot and innovative mitigation and AIC measures will be developed and implemented in Bulgarian municipalities, in fulfillment of their strategic plans and programs, namely:

  1. Installation of solar hot water systems in kindergartens and nurseries on the territory of Blagoevgrad municipality;
  2. Creation of an electronic database of the city's green system with the possibility of real-time updating and public access;
  3. Installation of solar hot water systems in several kindergartens and social institutions on the territory of Simitli municipality;
  4. Pilot introduction of home composting of biodegradable waste in households on the territory of Kocherinovo municipality;
  5. Pilot introduction of home composting of biodegradable waste in households on the territory of Boboshevo municipality.
