Project "Foundations for the Future“ supports the most vulnerable among the asylum seekers in the Republic of Bulgaria – unaccompanied minor refugee children. The project is worth nearly BGN 1 740 000 BGN and is financed under the Home Affairs Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The project is implemented by Caritas Sofia Association in partnership with the Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria, with duration of 24 months.
On March 31, 2022 the opening event of the project was held, which was attended by representatives of the both organizations, partner organizations, representatives of institutions, journalists and volunteers.
The project contributes for improving the conditions and national reception capacity of asylum seekers, with a focus on unaccompanied minors.
The main goal of the project is to ensure the right to childhood, a dignified and secure life, to guarantee basic human rights to the most vulnerable groups of refugees.
The project provides social and psychological support, activities for children's development and non-formal education, career guidance and personal development, active participation and cultural orientation, recreational activities, sports and excursions, workshops for building and implementing skills and other assistance for asylum seekers. It is envisaged also to work with parents in order to support and motivate the successful inclusion of refugee children in the Bulgarian education system.
