The Ministry of Justice as Programme Operator of the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (NFM) signed contracts for the provision of grants in the field of juvenile justice.
Funding under the small grant scheme of the Programme will be provided to the Institute of Social Activities and Practices, the Association of Prosecutors and the Municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa.
“These are some of the first projects to receive funding under the NFM small grant scheme. We are happy that all of them are related to juvenile justice, which is one of the main priorities of the Ministry,” said the head of the programme operator and of the Programme and Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, Desislava Gaydarova.
The project “Access to Justice” of the Social Activities and Practices Institute will target vulnerable children from Roma communities. The aim is to develop a specialised service programme that will be delivered in a specialised environment by an interdisciplinary team, with the support of community leaders and mediators.
The Association of Prosecutors with its project “Children’s Path” will prepare and introduce a specialized new service aimed at children - victims of violence, at risk or witnesses of crime with a special focus on children from the Roma community.
The project “Strengthening the role of local institutions in the field of justice for children” of the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa will work to increase the capacity of Bulgarian authorities in the field of justice for children, victims or witnesses of crime or children in conflict with the law; vulnerable children from the Roma community; representatives of Roma informal groups and civil society organizations, Roma mediators working in the target community.
