A manual to the management of domestic and gender-based violence cases has been presented by the National Institute of Justice (NIP).
The Director of the Institute, Miglena Tacheva, highlighted the potential of the manual to serve as an effective tool to support the daily work of Bulgarian magistrates in cases related to domestic and gender-based violence, as well as to unify the practice of law enforcement in this area and expressed the hope that it will be recognized as a useful guide by a wider range of professionals in the field.
The manual is uploaded in electronic format on the NIP website and you can send your comments and recommendations on the manual by 31 July 2023 by sending them by e-mail to: k.kirilova@nij.bg.
The document has been drafted under the project ‘Prevention and Counteraction of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence’, funded by the NFM 2014-2021.
The authors are Galya Valkova, judge at Sofia City Court, Desislava Petrova, Deputy Administrative Head of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, Maria Doncheva, Deputy Chairperson of the Sofia Regional Court, Diyana Videva, supervisor and consultant in services for victims of domestic and gender-based violence and member of the Board of Demetra Association, and Shazia Choudhry, lecturer in law at Oxford, in her capacity as an international expert on the topic.
