On 22 March 2021 started the implementation of the e-learning course on the topic “Domestic Violence in a Civil law context. Psychological aspects”, developed by the National Institute of Justice within the project “Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”, carried out with the support of the “Justice” Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, under Contract No BGJUSTICE-4.001-0002/12.02.20.
The course examines the civil law aspects of domestic violence in the context of the international legal standards of protection established in this field and the relevant case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and is oriented towards raising the awareness of Bulgarian magistrates on the psychological aspects and factors of the said phenomenon, which predetermine the acts of domestic violence as well as on the psychological consulting in such cases. The training course aims at contributing to overcoming the existing stereotypes in the understanding of this institute and to more efficient implementation of the international legal standards of protection against domestic violence at the national level.
Interest to take part in the training that will be held within a month have demonstrated 25 civil judges, court clerks, police officers and experts at the Inspectorate to the Supreme Judicial Council.
