The actions of the Bulgarian authorities to analyse the effectiveness of the national mechanism for the enforcement of final judgments of the ECtHR and to propose measures for its optimisation were discussed by the Department for the Enforcement of ECtHR Judgments of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe with government agents from the Ministry of Justice.
A meeting was held in Strasbourg and the Bulgarian delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Finance and independent analysts.
The event was held within the framework of the redefined project No. 5 “Strengthening national capacity for effective implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights”, funded under the Justice Programme of the NFM 2014 - 2021.
Discussions focused on possible approaches to a future formal national enforcement framework and exploring the practices of several other Member States, including Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Slovenia, which have introduced formalised enforcement mechanisms.
