The General Directorate ‘Execution of Punishments’ hosted a seminar within the project ‘Strengthening the application of alternative measures to imprisonment’ under the Justice Programme, Programme Area 19 ‘Correctional Services and Pre-trial Detention’ of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014—2021.
The seminar was attended by Croatian experts Mateja Srshen and Vesna Zelic Ferencic, as well as heads of probation services and chairpersons of probation councils in Bulgaria.
During the event, which took place on 17 July this year, the international experts presented reports with recommendations concerning good examples of European practices for the work of probation boards and the functioning of equivalent multi-institutional commissions. The aim is to achieve effective offender management in the community.
The reports will serve as a basis for the development of inter-institutional agreements for cooperation with stakeholders to improve the functioning of the Probation Boards at local and national level.
The event was held in the framework of Sub-activity 4.1 ‘Review of European practices in the inter-institutional management of offenders and the role of the Probation Boards’ of the pre-defined project 3 of NFM 2014—2021.
