The Execution of Punishments General Directorate (GDIN) conducted training on the application of the Professional Standards for Probation Officers, developed under the project “Strengthening the implementation of alternative measures to imprisonment” under the Justice Programme, Programme Area 19 “Correctional Services and Pre-trial Detention” of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021.
20 Probation Officers in the country were trained in the application of the Professional Standards for Probation Officers developed under the NFM Predefined Project 3 “Strengthening the implementation of alternative measures to imprisonment”. The training was held in Sofia, in the period 11-15.04.2022, by Prof. Petya Shopova, PhD – part-time lecturer at the Department of Criminal Justice and Security at the Ruse University “Angel Kanchev” and by Chief Assistant Svetlin Antonov, PhD – Interim Head of the Department of Criminal Justice and Security at the same University.
The professional standards for probation officers have been developed by an external expert under sub-activity 1.3 “Development of professional standards for probation officers and training for their implementation” of Predefined Project 3. They were discussed and approved in videoconference meetings with the Norwegian partners and then validated by the Director General of the DGIN.
All participants received a certificate for the training course.
