Yesterday, the Minister of Justice Danail Kirilov had a meeting with Mr Lothar Schmidt, the Prosecutor General of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Nürnberg. During this meeting, it was highlighted that a new training centre for staff training in the penitentiary system and a new prison under Program “Justice” of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, whose program operator is the Ministry of Justice, are planned in our country. In this regard, Minister Kirilov stated that Bulgaria will use Bavaria’s experience in constructing prison facilities in other countries in the Balkan region. Mr Lothar Schmidt said that in recent years, significant progress has been made in Bulgaria in terms of conditions in imprisonment facilities.
