The Ministry of Justice is working on amendments to the Domestic Violence Act, including violence against women and children, and the draft law on juvenile justice. The projects will be presented for public discussion and we hope to receive public support.
This was stated by the Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova during her meeting with the UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria Christina de Bruyne today.
Yordanova added that within the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, the Justice Programme in the field of juvenile justice, the Ministry of Justice as a program operator envisages the provision of grants for two predefined projects with beneficiaries, the Supreme Administrative Court and the Directorate General for Implementation of Executions, as well as projects funded under the Small Grant Scheme with non-governmental beneficiaries under evaluation.
Ms de Bruyne emphasized that the victims of violence had no gender or age and that everyone could be harmed, both children and women, as well as men, people with disabilities and the elderly. In this context, UNICEF highlighted the innovative work of the Centers for Advocacy and Support for Victims of Violence, Zona ZaKrila (Protection Zone) - which provide integrated services for child victims and witnesses of violence and their parents.
