On September 27, 2022, the municipality of Pernik held an opening press conference on project "Integrated measures for improved inclusion of people living in marginalized communities". The management team explained the main activities, goals and results expected in the implementation of the project. The main goal is through effective integrated approaches, to create sustainable mechanisms to improve the condition and opportunities of people living in marginalized Roma communities and to achieve effective empowerment of Roma in the territory of Pernik Municipality. The main activities are repair, equipment and furnishing of a center for providing of integrated social and health services, which will be located in existing premises in the "Moshino" quarter, as well as a training center in the "Tverdi Livadi" quarter. A new playground will also be built between the streets "Cherkovna", "Gradishte" and "Rainbow" in "Ralitsa" quarter. The development of local communities and overcoming negative stereotypes through empowerment, as well as support for employment and quality education are among the other priority activities laid down in the project. As a result of the implementation of the project, improved access for the target groups to quality services in social assistance, education, employment and healthcare is expected, as well as a lower level of discrimination against the Roma and overcoming of stereotypes and prejudices towards them.
