On July 22, 2022, the municipality of Lom held an opening press conference on the project "Integrated complex of services for Roma inclusion and empowerment in Lom municipality".
The overall goal of the project is to pilot an "Integrated Service Complex" through which to improve the condition and opportunities of people living in the four districts of Lom with the Roma population and other vulnerable groups, based on effective integrated approaches, sustainable impact mechanisms, active participation of the Roma community and cooperation between local institutions.
Main activities are united in three main directions: Increasing the access of Roma from the four neighborhoods to better quality services by creating a qualified multidisciplinary team, building an "Integrated Complex for Services of Vulnerable Groups" by renovating and equipping a building of a former bathhouse, managed from the "ROMA-LOM" foundation, providing integrated services and expanding the capacity of institutions in the municipality; Empowering the Roma communities in the four neighborhoods through the creation and development of a Community Development Council and a Group of Active Advocates; Coordination mechanism and direct participation in the preparation of a strategy for the development of the offered services in the next 5 years after the completion of the project; Creating a sustainable mechanism for opposing all forms of discrimination through activities to increase the level of acceptance between Roma and the mainstream population and to counter discrimination and negative attitudes against the Roma population; Activities for sharing good practices – within Bulgaria and with the partner from Norway.
