A seminar on the exchange of experience and good practices, organized under the “Local Development, Poverty Reduction and Enhanced Inclusion of Vulnerable Groups” Programme, was held in the period October 23-25, 2024 in Veliko Tarnovo. The event brought together representatives of the National Focal Point, National Fund Directorate of the Ministry of Finance, UNICEF, National Youth Forum (NYF), as well as youth centers financed under the programme.
During the three-day event, the participants exchanged experiences and good practices related to the resilience, human rights and youth employment. The National Focal Point presented the “Blue Book” project – a basic document outlining the priorities and programme areas for the new financing period under the Financial Mechanisms 2021-2028.
The NYF emphasized the key role of the youth organizations in the processes of local development and resilience. The strategic goals for expanding youth participation in public life and the importance of involving young people in decision-making processes were presented. The NYF outlined a vision for cooperation with institutions and organizations aimed at achieving long-term results in the youth policy in Bulgaria, with an emphasis on human rights and social inclusion.
An important part of the seminar was the presentation of the National Network of Youth Centers’ development strategy and vision for future cooperation. New opportunities for development and interventions were discussed based on what the youth centers have achieved so far, lessons learned and measures taken to overcome challenges that have arisen.
UNICEF representatives also shared their perspective on future activities aimed at local development and protection of the rights of vulnerable youth. Knowing the needs, preferences and desires of young people was highlighted as an important prerequisite for successful policies and services.
